Custom Admin Roles offer a flexible way to grant targeted administrative permissions across users and spaces within your venue. Unlike system-wide Booking Admins, these roles are scoped and customizable, giving you more control over who manages what.
What Are Custom Admin Roles?
Custom Admin Roles let you define and assign admin-like capabilities to specific users over selected spaces. These roles are ideal when you want users to:
Manage bookings only in certain spaces
Avoid giving full venue-wide access
Tailor admin rights to operational responsibilities
These roles are configured in Settings > Admin roles & permissions.

Please note that Custom Admin Roles are only available on the Premier plan for Skedda and on the Advanced plan for AllBooked. If you are on a different plan, please reach out to our team to discuss upgrading.
Users with Custom Admin tags are included in your plan's overall admin limits.
What Can Custom Admins Do?
For the spaces they manage, custom admins can:
Create bookings on behalf of users (including casual user)
Edit or cancel bookings
Create internal/unavailable bookings
Override booking rules (advance notice, max duration, etc.)
View "admin-only" custom fields
Receive emails that include admin-only booking details
They cannot:
Manage users or assign admin roles
Modify venue settings
Custom Admins only have elevated booking permissions (like overriding restrictions or editing others’ bookings) for the specific spaces they’re assigned to. For all unmanaged spaces, they behave like regular users and are subject to all venue-wide booking and visibility rules.
How to Set Up a Custom Admin Role
Navigate to Settings > Admin roles & permissions
Click Add custom role
Define the role name (e.g. "Space Manager")
Assign it to users by name or tag
Select which spaces or space tags the role covers
To assign a custom role to a user, navigate to a user in your Users list, select the user's menu with the downwards arrow on the right, then click Edit user. Select what type of user they are in the Admin roles & permissions field:
Once configured, users with this role will see a 🔑 key icon on relevant views (day/grid/map) indicating they have full rights over those spaces.

Yes, if they manage the space, they can edit/cancel any bookings in it.

Permissions combine across roles. If one role grants access to a space, they get full booking rights over it.

No. Custom Admins cannot currently access space settings like name, description, tags etc. However, we plan to make this a configurable permission in the future, so venue owners/admins can optionally grant this access if needed.

No. They cannot add, remove or edit user profiles. Only full venue admins (Owners and System Admins) can do that. We plan to make this a configurable permission in the future.

You can create multiple role types, but the number of users you assign to any admin role (including custom admins) must stay within your plan’s admin limit.
