Venues with paid access are able sync Skedda with Google Calendar by using the account's dedicated iCalendar link.
You can find this link by going to Settings > Venue Profile and then choosing the Integrations section.
In this section you will find the Feed to External Calendars which shows the link.
From here go into your Google Calendar account and follow the instructions below:
- Click the down-arrow next to Other calendars.
- Select Add by URL from the menu.
- Enter the Skedda webcal address in the field provided.
- Click Add calendar. The calendar will appear in the Other calendars section of the calendar list to the left.
Once added, Google Calendar will automatically fetch updated booking information from Skedda periodically. In the particular case of Google Calendar, note that this can refresh interval can be of the order of a few hours (something that's dictated by Google Calendar and that Skedda cannot control).
Although Google updates the calendar automatically from the Skedda feed, the timescales for this are somewhat unclear and there is no manual way to force the update.
Some observers have suggested Google updates every few hours, but Google themselves quote it may take up to 12 hours, although in in exceptional cases we have seen it take as long as 48 hours.
A note on two-way syncing
The sync described above is a one-way, read-only feed (from Skedda to Google Calendar). That is, Skedda does not support two-way syncing from Google Calendar. Practically this means that you can't create bookings in Google Calendar and have them reflected in Skedda, mainly because such external applications don't share and respect many of the concepts that Skedda does (e.g. minimum booking times, booking windows, lock-in times, dependencies between spaces, and pricing). You can, however, create bookings in Skedda and have them reflected in Google Calendar.
