Tablet Room Actions turn a paired Skedda display into an interactive room terminal. Anyone standing at the tablet can check in to a booking, book the room on the spot, or free it up early - all without logging in to Skedda.
Overview
When Room Actions are enabled for a tablet pairing, three action buttons appear directly on the tablet display:
Action | What it does |
Check in | Checks the booking holder into a booking. |
Book now | Creates an ad-hoc booking for the current time slot. |
End meeting | Releases the room before the booking's scheduled end time. |
Prerequisites
The space must have a Skedda tablet pairing configured.
Room Actions must be enabled per pairing by a venue administrator.
Enabling Room Actions
Sign in to your Skedda venue as an admin.
Go to Settings → Tablet Pairings.
Select the pairing you want to configure.
Toggle on Enable room actions.
Save your changes.
How each action works
Check in
If a booking has a check-in window configured, a Check in button appears on the booking card when the window opens. Anyone at the tablet can tap it to confirm the room is in use - no Skedda account required.
Book now
If a room is currently free, a Book now button appears on the tablet.
Tap Book now.
Select an end time from the picker.
Confirm.
The booking is created immediately as an Internal Use booking assigned to the room. Start time of the booking is rounded down to the closest time-slot boundary based on your venue's booking granularity. If you tap at 10:47 on a 30-min granularity space, the booking starts at 10:30, not 10:47.
Note: Book now only supports bookings starting at the current time. Future-dated or multi-day ad-hoc bookings from the tablet are not supported.
End meeting
If a room is currently occupied, an End meeting button appears on the booking card.
Once user taps on "end meeting" the booking ends at the next time-slot boundary based on your venue's booking granularity. For example, if your granularity is 30 minutes and you tap End meeting at 10:47, the booking ends at 11:00.
If the booking is part of a recurring series, only the current occurrence is affected — the rest of the series remains unchanged.
Note: The lock-in policy does not apply to End meeting actions on the tablet. The room can be freed at any time within the booking.
